The RapidaPlus Edge
Why Choose Us for Custom CNC Machining?
Combining high-tech 5-axis capabilities with Zhongshan's supply chain efficiency to deliver superior components worldwide.
Advanced 5-Axis Technology
We utilize simultaneous 5-axis machining to produce complex geometries in a single setup, reducing human error and significantly lowering unit costs for intricate parts.
Expert DFM Support
Our engineers provide a Free Design for Manufacturing (DFM) review for every quote, helping you optimize tolerances and geometries to reduce waste and cost.
ISO 9001:2015 Certified Quality
Every part undergoes a rigorous inspection process using Zeiss CMM and Hexagon metrology tools. Full inspection reports and material COAs are provided with every shipment.
Rapid 3-Day Turnaround
Leveraging our 24/7 machining shifts, we can deliver simple prototypes in as fast as 3 days, helping you accelerate your R&D and time-to-market.
CNC Machining Materials
Material failure is product failure. Our material guide helps you select the right alloy or polymer based on heat, chemical, and stress requirements.
Aluminum Alloys
Use 6061-T6 for general structural frames or 7075-T6 for high-stress aerospace applications where strength must match steel but weight must remain low.
Stainless Steel
316L is non-negotiable for medical implants and marine hardware due to its extreme resistance to salt and chemicals. 17-4 PH is perfect for high-wear industrial tools.
Titanium Grade 5
Half the weight of steel, extreme biocompatibility, and unmatched prestige for high-end consumer products and EDC gear.
PEEK & PEI (ULTEM)
When plastics must survive 200°C or harsh sterilization. PEEK is our specialty for surgical instruments and vacuum chamber components.
Delrin (POM) & Nylon
Self-lubricating and impact-resistant. Ideal for gears, bushings, and any part requiring low friction and dimensional stability.
Clear PC & Acrylic
Optically clear prototypes with vapor polishing to achieve glass-like transparency for lenses and light guides.
Surface Finishing Solutions
Enhance your parts' performance, durability, and aesthetics with our specialized secondary operations.

Anodizing (II/III)

PVD & DLC Coating

Bead Blasting

Electropolishing
Design for CNC Success
Optimize your parts to reduce lead time and manufacturing costs with our engineering guidelines.
- Internal Radii: Use a minimum radius of 1.5x the pocket depth to allow for standard tool diameters.
- Wall Thickness: Maintain a minimum of 0.8mm for metals and 1.5mm for plastics to prevent deformation.
- Tolerances: Specify tight tolerances (±0.01mm) only on critical mating surfaces to save cost.
- Thread Depth: Limit thread depth to 3x the hole diameter for blind holes.

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about working with RapidAPlus.
The cost typically ranges from $35 to $120 per hour depending on machine complexity. 3-axis machines are the most affordable, while 5-axis and Swiss turning centers command higher rates. At RapidaPlus, we leverage Zhongshan’s lower overhead to offer high-precision machining at a fraction of Western labor costs.
China's advantage lies in a massive supply chain ecosystem and efficient labor. Factories in regions like Zhongshan have instant access to raw materials and specialized post-processing (anodizing, PVD) within a 5-mile radius, significantly reducing logistics time and total production costs.
Aluminum 6061 is the most popular due to its excellent machinability and strength-to-weight ratio. For high-strength applications, Titanium Grade 5 is preferred. If you need electrical insulation or chemical resistance, PEEK and Delrin (POM) are the top engineering plastic choices.
CNC milling uses a rotating tool to cut a stationary workpiece (best for prismatic/square parts). CNC turning rotates the workpiece against a stationary tool (best for cylindrical parts like shafts). Our Mill-Turn centers combine both, allowing complex cylindrical parts to be completed in one setup.
The industry standard is ISO 2768-m (typically ±0.1mm). However, precision engineering shops like RapidaPlus can achieve tight tolerances of ±0.01mm (10 microns) or even ±0.005mm for high-precision aerospace and medical applications.
For standard geometries, lead times are typically 3 to 5 business days. Complex parts requiring multi-axis setups or specialized finishing (like Hard Anodizing or PVD) may take 7 to 10 days. We also offer "Emergency Rush" services for 24-hour turnaround.
It depends on your goal. 3D printing is better for extremely complex "organic" internal geometries. CNC machining is far superior for material strength, surface finish (Ra roughness), and dimensional accuracy. For functional prototypes, CNC is usually the preferred engineering choice.
The "As-Machined" finish is typically Ra 3.2 μm. We can perform secondary operations to reach Ra 1.6, 0.8, or even 0.4 μm (mirror polish). We also offer bead blasting for a matte finish and anodizing for corrosion resistance and color.
Yes. RapidaPlus has a No Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ) policy. We support engineers through the "high-mix, low-volume" phase, helping you perfect a single design before moving to small-batch production.
You need a 3D CAD file (STEP, IGES, or X_T) for the geometry. Additionally, a 2D technical drawing (PDF) is required to specify tolerances, threaded holes, and critical surface finishes that aren't captured in the 3D model.
Trusted by Engineers Worldwide
Don't just take our word for it. Here is what clients say about RapidAPlus.
Finding a reliable shop for complex 5-axis components was our biggest challenge until we found RapidaPlus. They handled our multi-angled aerospace brackets with zero setup errors. The concentricity on the bores was perfect, and the weight reduction pockets were exactly to spec. A world-class engineering team in Zhongshan.

We require ±0.01mm tolerances for our surgical instruments, and RapidaPlus consistently delivers. Their expertise in machining high-performance plastics like PEEK is impressive—no burrs, no melting, and full material certification provided. They are now our primary partner for all micro-machining needs.

I've worked with dozens of CNC factories in China over 15 years, and RapidaPlus is the most professional. They treat small orders with the same respect as high-volume contracts. No hidden fees, no excuses on lead times, just high-quality parts every time.

What sets RapidaPlus apart is their engineering feedback. Most shops just cut what you send, but their team caught a thin-wall issue in my CAD file before production. They saved us from a costly mistake and helped optimize the design for 3-axis milling to lower our unit cost. Their technical English is flawless.

For an EDC brand owner, aesthetics are everything. The stonewash and PVD coating on my titanium fidget sliders were impeccable. Not a single scratch or tool mark visible. The tactile feel is exactly what I wanted. Their 'No MOQ' policy allowed me to prototype three versions before the final run.
